3 John is the twenty-fifth book of the New Testament. Authorship is traditionally attributed to John son of Zebedee. The letter addressed to “beloved Gaius.” John speaks highly of Gaius and warns about Diotrephes. Commentaries on 3 John often address the letter’s relationship with 1 and 2 John as well as what is known historically about the individuals mentioned in the letter.
